Timothy Anderson
Hello and Welcome! I'm Tim - a 53 year-old, married, father of two, adventurer, explorer, and overall lover of the outdoors and most critters (excluding skunks, woodticks, mosquitos... those kind of things) :-) I have always worked with helping and serving people in one way, shape or form, but I also want you to know that many others have helped me. Back in the 1990's, when I was going through a particularly difficult time, a therapist helped me immensely, and I distinctly remember telling myself: "If I ever go back to college, it will be for some kind of psychology degree - so I can help others the way my therapist helped me... that must be so, so satisfying." Fast forward to my mid-forties, when it became necessary to "re-invent myself" - so I did, with an LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) degree from St. Cloud State in Minnesota. I have practiced for the past 8 years in a multiple office agency serving all ages, and tackling just about any problem anyone could throw at me. The issues that seem to come up "all the time" are typically related to relationship conflict, all the various forms of anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, grief/loss, and PTSD/trauma - so these are the areas where I have the most experience. In the same breath, I want to tell you that I have also worked for several years in an inpatient substance abuse treatment center for men, where I feel I have seen and worked with just about everything (nothing surprises me). The point is that no matter what your issue is, you will be met with someone who has a broad level of experience in knowing how to tackle and overcome these issues. Past clients have often told me that I am easy to talk to, and they feel comfortable with me. That's because I really enjoy people, and I'm down to earth. I'm not the type of therapist who is aloof or superior. I honestly feel that you and I are on an "even playing field." You have your strengths and weaknesses, and I have mine. There will never be any judgment, criticism, or condemnation coming from me. I'm just eager to hear the details and the truth about your life, and understand your unique individual story - so that I can help you help yourself get to feeling better as soon as possible. I love humor, and I know when it's appropriate to use, and when it's not, in the therapeutic environment. 54 years is a fair bit of life experience, and I have packed a lot into those years. Clients also tell me that they "can relate to me" easily. That's because, when it's appropriate for an intervention, I tend to be a therapist who self-discloses at times, and that's because I want to normalize what you are going through, let you know that I have experienced this too, and most importantly, that I have found the way to victory and success over this particular obstacle or issue. Many therapists are fearful of self-disclosing; I find that if I am willing to risk it, it causes my clients and I to connect in a deeper way, and therefore, they feel they can trust me. I could tell you all the theories I use and draw from - but the average person seeking therapy aren't necessarily familiar with them anyway (I know I wasn't before my formal training) - so just know that I have lots and lots of training to draw from in my "bag of tricks". If you are so incredibly unique that I have no idea how to help you, I promise that I will admit it, and promptly go to the work of finding someone who can - for I also have several years of experience in assessing men in short term treatment, and plugging them into the appropriate channels and resources - so that they could get the help they needed. You? You're hurting in some way, and you're smart enough to recognize your feelings, admit that you need help, and have reached out. Congratulations - those are important steps, and you are well on way! I L.O.V.E. working with people who are highly motivated to get better. I look forward to coming alongside of you - to offer the guidance it takes to find victory over the pain, and get you as close as we can to operating at your full God-given potential. My best, Tim
Alice Congdon
Hi! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. My name is Alice Congdon and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Minnesota. I have been in the helping profession since 2008 and have 8 years experience as a therapist. I have worked in a variety of settings: client's homes, schools, places of employment and in office. I have experience as a Personal Care Assistant, Job Coach, Direct Service Professional, Mental Health Practitioner, In-patient Therapist, and Outpatient Therapist. I have interned in a chemical dependency rehabilitation facility (that focused on minority women) as well as interned in multiple K-12 schools. My experiences have helped shape the therapy I do today. I have the most experience working with Depression, Anxiety, Addictions, Relationship Conflicts, and Life Transitions. I also have experience with Bipolar Disorders, PTSD, ADHD, OCD, Hoarding, Grief & Loss, and Spiritual Issues. I consider myself a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist as well as Solution-Focused Brief Therapist. I also utilize Existential, Multicultural, Motivational Interviewing, Family and other therapies as needed. I believe in looking at all the individual pieces that make up the entire person and assessing how each aspect of a person's life contributes to their overall functionality or dysfunction. In session, we work to develop insight and connect that to daily, weekly, and long-term goals. I look to create a sense of hope within a person that will motivate them to achieve their goals. I believe ultimately that YOU are the expert on your life! You know yourself better than anyone and have the final say in goals and interventions that we practice. Having said that, my role will be to provide safety, confidentiality, empathy, and a non-judgmental atmosphere. I think therapy is like driving a car: we occasionally glance back to see where we have been, while mainly looking forward to where we are going and focusing on the present moment. I am excited to start our journey together! Please be advised I can only Video & Phone sessions during evening sessions. I am available for Messaging and Live Chat during the morning/ afternoon session ( and any other available sessions). Thank you!

I am a MA, LPCC, and LADC. My diverse training through the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies, as well as training through the Mayo Clinic has enriched my understanding of holistic wellness. Additionally, I have experience in a wide variety of treatment environments with diverse clientele and understand that treatment is most effective when care is tailored with respect for the individual. To create this tailored therapeutic approach, I use an eclectic process which draws on cognitive, mindfulness based, narrative, and solution focused therapy. Additionally, I identify as a creative and write, record, and perform original music with a specialization in recovery music. These modalities allow for me to provide a creative, experiential, compassionate, trauma informed, and person-centered approach and therapeutic style. I specialize in addiction treatment and recovery and am able to guide you through the initial substance use assessment, all the phases of recovery, and towards ongoing wellness and maintenance. I also have a passion for mental health healing, and am skilled with relationship challenges, familial challenges, families seeking support for their loved ones, self-exploration, and trauma.
Kathryn Dunleavy
My counseling approach is eclectic and leans into: Cognitive Re-framing, Positive Psychology, Trauma Informed Care, Mindfulness, Strengths Based, Solution Focused, and Motivational Interviewing. I have worked in every level of mental health care: inpatient, partial, outpatient, community care, crisis residential and co-occurring mental health and substance use recovery programs. I believe unconditional positive regard builds trust and can help us all live our best life with authenticity. Personal growth takes courage, the ability to surrender old beliefs that feed your shame and the grace to learn new things imperfectly. My mission is to spark the goldenness in others by fostering trust and connection to help people generate energy to heal and thrive. In my 30 years of working in mental health, I have learned that, at the root of most people’s pain is isolation. Online counseling platforms like BetterHelp are making counseling accessible with new and resilient ways to connect to one another and get help when you need it most. I am here because I want to help others and having non-judgmental support is vital to create space for grieving, healing and re-building. I look forward to connecting with you and helping you increase your self compassion and resiliency.

Christina Copeland

I have a depth of experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, lgbtq+ related issues, family conflicts, & trauma and abuse. My career has been focused on providing services in a variety of private practice and clinical treatment settings, including residential, in-home, vocational, and educational programming and training agencies. Clients have remarked that I develop supportive relationships with them and their families without becoming overly emotionally involved. I have a broad and systems-based depth of knowledge of individual and family treatment and habilitation service provision in mental health, trauma, child abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, drugs and alcohol abuse, foster and adoptive care, and therapeutic interventions. This knowledge extends to related services, including people with disabilities, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities and developmental delays. Years of Experience: I have 35 years of extensive human services experience. Since graduating in 2013 with a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling, I have focused on clinical private practice. I also find benefit at times from Gottman Relationships and Conflict Resolution materials and Narrative, Person-Centered and Schema Therapy. And overall, I tend to find many of the people I see appreciate my understanding and attention to Solution Focused best practices. I see each client and their struggles as being unique and requiring an individual plan that is important to them, regardless of what others might think would best benefit them to work on first. I try to approach each client with empathy and genuine regard and strive to help my clients find wholeness. For these reasons, I appreciate many aspects of person-centered therapy. I also incorporate a behavioral approach toward facilitating change. I believe everyone can benefit from the skills taught in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I aim to teach people how to increase their emotional regulation and distress tolerance while increasing their use of mindfulness and coping skills and making needed lifestyle changes that maximize their mental health and quality of life balance and improve their interpersonal relationships. Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Some commonly asked questions can be found below.
How much does a therapist cost?
Mental health professionals can differ in price. Forbes found that the average cost of in-person therapy in the US is around $100 to $200 per hour. Pricing can also vary based on your location.
BetterHelp offers payment plans of $60 to $90 per session, charged monthly in a lump sum. You can also take advantage of this pricing on one of BetterHelp's sister platforms, like ReGain for couples or TeenCounseling for teens aged 13 to 19.
Many therapists may be upfront about their pricing and whether or not they take health insurance from the beginning. Additionally, some in your area may offer a sliding scale plan to allow those with lower incomes to pay less for therapy. However, services online can often save individuals a few hundred dollars per month.
How do I know if I should get a therapist?
Mental health services and mental health providers may help you navigate various concerns. You do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy; You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general advice. A counselor may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.
Mental health issues don't always present as a crisis. Many professionals provide talk therapy and support for life transitions, skills learning, relationship problems, or life coaching. Online therapy sessions in Minnesota can allow clients seeking therapy to experience professional help through video, phone, or live chat sessions without commuting to an office.
Does insurance cover therapy?
Different counseling services can vary in cost. Therapists must apply to accept insurance through insurance companies, which may take time and money, so not every therapist offers services through insurance. If you cannot find a therapist that accepts your plan, BetterHelp may be cheaper than visiting an in-person therapist.
Is online therapy safe?
Online therapy through BetterHelp and its sister platforms is safe. Therapists are licensed, experienced, and vetted before being contracted with the platform. If you experience any concerns with your therapist, you change your counselor through the platform or app at any time.
